Cracked toes - very unpleasanta phenomenon that causes many problems and is accompanied by pain. The pain can rest and when water, dirt, etc. get into the wound. The reasons
Cracked toes can be caused by:
- excessive drying of the skin due to frequent interaction with abrasives (including natural ones - sand, for example), chlorinated water, hot air;
- uncomfortable shoes (narrow, inappropriate, artificial) that interfere with the blood supply and cause increased sweating, as a result of which the feet are always wet;
- violation of the rules of personal hygiene;
- foot fungus;
- diseases of the endocrine system (diabetes mellitus, obesity, dysfunction of the thyroid gland);
- dermatitis and allergic reactions;
- deficiency of vitamins A and E;
- hyperhidrosis.
Some women during pregnancy experience cracks in the skin, which can also be triggered by unstable hormone levels, vitamin and nutrient deficiencies, and other causes.
Clinical picture
In addition to the actual gaps between the fingers, the clinical picture can be augmented with symptoms such as:
- dryness and peeling of the skin;
- deform and yellowing of nails;
- discharge of pus from injured tissue (first sign of inflammation);
- itchy.
Depending on what is causing the skin cracking, rash, redness, swelling may also occur.
Treatment
Treatment is prescribed by a veterinarian after the initial diagnosis. Through visual examination and laboratory tests, the doctor devises a plan of therapeutic manipulation that will result in the elimination of the problem and improvement of the condition.
- If cracks between the toes are caused by a fungal infection, antimycotic drugs are prescribed to prevent the growth of pathogens and restore the normal microflora on the skin surface.
- When it comes to hyperhidrosis, botulinum toxin injections will help get rid of excess sweat. They give a temporary effect, the duration of which varies from a few months to a year, after which a second procedure is required to maintain the results achieved.
- In some cases, the main cause is dysfunction of internal organs, then treatment is made in close cooperation with a profile specialist.
